RiverDogs support local hospitality employees and their families
July 27, 2009
Charleston, SC - The
Hospitality Heroes Fund, a nonprofit organization aimed at helping
Charleston-area hospitality employees and their families when faced
with a medical hardship, invites the local community to come out to the
Charleston RiverDogs game on Monday, August 10. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
Tickets are available in advance for $7 at Red's Ice House on Shem
Creek, or by calling the Hospitality Heroes Fund at (843) 270-4700. For
every ticket sold through Red’s or the organization, $4 will directly
benefit the Hospitality Heroes Fund. The game is part of the RiverDogs'
"Dogs with a Cause" initiative to help increase awareness and
fund-raising opportunities for local nonprofit organizations.
The Hospitality Heroes Fund was established to help alleviate financial
burden brought on by unfortunate medical tragedies to employees and
their families within the Charleston-area hospitality community. When a
serious injury occurs, or an individual or one of their children
experiences a prolonged hospital stay, the hospitality industry
continues to thrive, but in many instances, it is tremendously
difficult for the employee to continue living their life as they knew
it. The Hospitality Heroes Fund serves as a safety net and a helping
hand to help our fellow colleagues get back on their feet.
"Dining out is a serious pastime in Charleston," states Steve
Carroll, Hospitality Heroes Fund board member and general manager of
Red's Ice House. "The enjoyment we all get from dining out would not be
possible without the commitment and dedication from so many outstanding
hospitality employees. This opportunity presented by the RiverDogs is a
great way for Charleston to show these individuals and their families
that we appreciate their hard work and what they bring to our
community." In order for the full proceeds to go towards the
Hospitality Heroes Fund, the public is encouraged to purchase their
tickets from Red's Ice House or from someone involved with the fund.
However, if you are unable to do so, they ask that a request be made at
the ticket booth on game-day to have your ticket go towards the
Hospitality Heroes' cause.
