Meet Virginia

March 23, 2009

Roughly six months and 160 members after the Nonprofit Nook's introduction to the Web, the site serves as a premier resource to nonprofit organizers in the Southeast and beyond. We've undergone changes in design, fleshing out of ideas, and we're not even close to fulfilling all that we feel we can offer. Through the changes, the site has always had an intern, who manages the content, member database, and periodic e-blasts. Lately, that intern has been a girl named Virginia Street. Recently, we sat down and had an interview with the current Nook rookie, and here's what we learned about the girl behind the Nook's curtain.

The Nook: So, Virginia, what brought you to Trio Solutions and the Nonprofit Nook?

Virginia: Well, I had been looking to try something new. I had been working in healthcare for a year, and knew that I needed a change in scenery. I originally wanted to work for a nonprofit, but when I found Trio Solutions and the Nook, it seemed like the next best thing would be to work for a business that believed in and worked with nonprofits.

The Nook: We've heard a rumor that you actually applied twice for this job. What's the story on that?

Virginia: Yes, that's true. I applied for their first internship position, but it had already been filled. I pretty much thought that my stint on the "Trying to get a job at Trio Solutions" show was over. Thankfully, that was not the case.

The Nook: So where does all the Nook action actually take place?

Virginia: It's pretty neat. I literally work in a nook. I believe it was previously owned by a fax machine, but the Nook recently gained full ownership, and we've been really happy with the digs.

The Nook: So how many people actually work for the Nook.

Virginia: Directly?

The Nook: Yes, directly.

Virginia: Well, it's really a team effort, here at Trio. We all have something to do with the Nook, from time to time. But I would have to say that, directly, that would be one person.

The Nook: One? Really? So who's actually conducting this interview? I mean we need to be frank with our members. If there is only one person directly working for the Nook, and you're the Nook's manager, that would mean...

Virginia: Yeah... I've done lamer things before.

The Nook: Well, hmm. This is awkward. We certainly hope all of our members have enjoyed meeting Virginia Street. Keep logging on! Keep learning! Stay tuned to the Nonprofit Nook, where it's always a beautiful day in the neighborhood, a beautiful day for nonprofits.
